Every hunter who ventures west is ultimately bound for the same place: the summit of Kunlun, high above the sea of clouds. Nine wells stand upon the peak, their waters said to hold extraordinary power. Drink from one, the stories say, and you may gain a fraction of that power. So people climb, one after another, all for a single mouthful. The final trial is Kai Ming Shou, the nine-headed beast. It stands before the ninth well, the last and deadliest obstacle between the climber and the summit. And even those strong enough to survive the climb and make it back down are not yet free. On Mount Gui dwells Qiong Qi, a winged tiger that hunts the strong. Everyone knows what waits at the top but everyone climbs anyway.
