For Those Who Come After.
A horse's body, a human face, tiger-striped hide, and wings upon its back. It does not dwell upon any one mountain but roams The Untamed, hunting wherever it pleases. In the same moment, it sweeps over the eastern shore and strikes prey in the western range. Not because it is swift, but because there are many of it. It can spawn perfect doubles, each hunting on its own. You think you have cornered one, only for another to come charging down another slope, and a third to descend from the ridge. Hunters have killed it, but the body collapses into ash and is gone. Then, the next day, they see the same creature flying somewhere else, alive and untouched. Only then do they understand: the beast that died in their hands was always a double. The true body hides somewhere behind that sky of copies. No one has seen it, and no one has killed it. Some say it is a shade faster than the rest, but no one can know for certain. Those who saw the true one never lived to say so. It has perished a thousand times, and not once has it truly died.
马身，人面，虎纹之皮，鸟翼之背。它不守一山，四海之内，处处有它。 同一刻，东荒见它掠过，西荒也见它扑食。不是它快，是它多。它能生出与自己一模一样的分身，散入八荒，各自为猎。你以为拦住的是一头孤兽，正欲近身，坡后却又冲下一头，崖上再扑下一头，转眼四面皆是它，一模一样，同时向你扑来。 猎人杀过它。刀锋入体，尸身却化作一摊飞灰，散尽无踪。杀了一头，转日又在别处见它活生生地飞。众人这才明白：死在他们手里的，从来都是分身。 真身藏在这满天的分身之后，从没有人见过，也从没有人杀过。有人说，真身比分身快上那么一线。可谁也说不准，因为见过真身的人，都没能活着回来说。 它死了千百回，却一次也没有真的死过。
