A horse's body, a bird's wings, a human face, and a serpent's tail. Whenever anyone draws near, it opens its arms, welcoming them into an embrace. Tao Wu keeps it prisoner on Mount Yanzi, where the sun sets, at the westernmost edge of The Untamed. Its embrace closes wounds, cures sickness, banishes hunger and thirst, and restores strength to the most exhausted body. Before long, word spreads: on the last mountain in the west lives a beast whose touch can cure any ailment. So the wounded, the sick, and the desperate make their way up Yanzi, one after another. That is exactly what Tao Wu wants. A creature that can heal every affliction is the perfect bait. Everyone who comes seeking its embrace walks straight into Tao Wu's claws. Shu Hu heals them, and Tao Wu devours them. And Shu Hu knows. It knows it is the bait, yet still opens its arms. It gambles that one day, someone it saves will grow strong enough to wound Tao Wu, drive it away, and set it free. Every life it restores is another wager. So it keeps opening its arms to every soul that reaches it, saving them only to send them, one by one, into the jaws waiting below.
马身，鸟翼，人面，蛇尾。它生着一张人的脸，见人走近，便张开双臂。 它被檮杌囚于崦嵫山，日落之地，八荒最西的尽头。 它拥抱每一个登山之人。那一抱，伤口愈合，恶疾尽消，饥渴俱退，枯竭的气力重回身躯。渐渐地，传言四起：西极有兽，触之百病皆愈。于是伤者、病者、穷途末路者，接连攀上崦嵫。 这正是檮杌所要的。它留孰湖一命，锁于此山，只因这副能医百病的身子，是世间最好的诱饵。所有为那一抱而来的人，都一步步走进它的爪下。孰湖医好他们，檮杌吃掉他们。 而孰湖知道。它知道自己就是陷阱，却依旧张开双臂。它赌，总有一个被它救活的人，能狠狠伤梼杌一次，逼梼杌退去，放自己离开这座山。所以每治好一个人，它便又押下一注。 它张开双臂，救活每一个走近的人，也把每一个人，一步步送进那张嘴里。
