For Those Who Come After.
Shaped like a wild duck, yet never whole: one wing, one eye, half a body. A lone Man Man cannot fly. It can only drag itself across the earth, hopping from stone to stone, forever bound to the ground. Yet it is never truly alone. Man Man are born in pairs, one left and one right, each bearing the wing and eye the other lacks. Only when they join as one can they take to the sky. Find one in the hills of Mount Chongwu, and its other half will never be more than an arm's length away. To gain its power, both Man Man must be killed together. Each heart must then be eaten by a different person. Those who share the two hearts become as the birds were: whatever one sees, the other sees; every wound one suffers is felt by both. The closer they remain, the stronger the bond. Let them drift apart, and it begins to fade. But a heart cannot be eaten alone. Whoever swallows one without another to share the other heart will die. One heart for each. One fate to keep.
状如凫，却只有半身：一只翅膀，一只眼睛。独自一头蛮蛮，飞不起来，只能贴着地面，拖着那半边身子，一跳一跳地挪。 可它从不独自现身。它们生来成对，一左一右，各出一翼一目，紧紧相依，合成一头完整的鸟。唯有如此，它们才能振翅离地。你若在崇吾山间见着一头蛮蛮，另一头必在它身侧一臂之内。它们此生，再不曾分开过。 你若想食它，须得将成对的两头一同杀死，取出两颗心，由两人各食其一。得其心者，二人自此如那对鸟一般相连：一人所见，另一人亦见；一人所受之伤，两人同感。你二人越是相近，这份力便越盛；一旦渐行渐远，它便随之而弱。 可这心，断不能独食。若你吞下一颗，身边却无人分食另一颗，你必死无疑。 一人一心，一世同命。
