This is the one place in The Untamed where beast and man drink from the same river, and that is what makes its beasts worse. For a thousand years they have watched men cultivate, learning how men think, how men fight, how men die. The Hua She of the Yang River is one of such beasts. One shout, and rivers surge, dikes give way, and a whole town goes under. The Ming She of Mount Xian is its mirror: at its chime, rivers steam away and the earth cracks dry. One calls all the water in the world; the other burns it away. High on Mount He dwells Tai Feng. It commands the storms, and no weapon ever forged has so much as scratched it. Hunters have gone after its mountain for generations, but none have succeeded. In the Heartland, the danger is not how strong the beasts are. It is how well they know you.
