For Those Who Come After.
Shaped like a pheasant, its five-coloured plumage shifting like living flame. A soft fire runs along its feathers, yet it scorches no grass and sears no skin. It only warms; it never burns. It is the saviour of broken ages. Where the feng huang appears, wars fall silent, famines end, and the land settles into calm. Men spend their whole lives searching for it, for a single descent can lift an age out of ruin. They say that when its life runs out, it burns to ash and rises again from the embers. Eat its heart, and that fire is yours: though your body die, you will rise from the flame again and again, never returning to dust. All things must die. You alone need never fear it. But no one has ever truly seen it. That immortality lives in the tales, nowhere a man can reach. The last time it appeared was long, long ago. It has never come back. And this broken age is still waiting.
形如雉，五色羽翼流转如火，行止之间，周身似有微光燃烧。那火却不焚草木，不灼人肌，是一种温柔的火，只暖，不伤。它落在哪里，哪里便有一片暖意，像寒夜里忽然递来的一盏灯。 它是乱世的救星。它一现身，兵戈自息，饥荒自止，山河自定。所过之处，人心安稳，天下太平。世人穷尽一生寻它，只为它一次降临，便能救一个时代于水火。 传说它寿尽之时，会自燃成灰，再从灰烬中重生，生生不息。食其心者，亦得此火：纵然身死，也能于烈焰中浴火重生，一次又一次，不入轮回，不归尘土。世间万物皆有一死，唯独你，再不必怕它。 只是这世上，从没有人真正见过它。那永生近在传说里，却远在人间之外。它上一次现身，已是很久很久以前。 它一直没有回来。而这乱世，仍在等它。
