For Those Who Come After.
An ox with a white head, a single eye, and the tail of a great serpent. Waters recede beneath its feet, and wherever its shadow passes, the grass withers to dust. Behind it stretches a road of death, carved unbroken across the land. It does not need to strike. A well it passes turns foul. A field it crosses lies barren. A village it leaves behind is, within days, overcome by sickness in both man and beast. Eat its heart and you gain that power of decay. From that moment everything you touch, everything you pass through, spoils and falls apart: a well, a field, an army drawn in full formation. Yet you can never again lay hands on a living thing without bringing ruin. The seedlings you plant wither. The hands you hold begin to rot. Those you fight hardest to protect die in your arms.
牛身白首，独目，长蛇为尾。行则水竭，影过草枯。它所经之处，皆留下一道寸草不生的死路。 它不必伤人。过井，井即浊；过田，田即荒；过村，不消数日，人畜尽染疫疾。 食其心者，得它这一身腐朽之力。自此凡你所触、所经，皆随之败坏。一口井，一亩田，一支列阵的大军，尽皆如此。可你再不能安然触碰任何活物。你亲手栽下的苗木终将枯萎，你紧握的手掌终会腐烂。 你拼死护住的人，终究死在你怀中。
