For Those Who Come After.
A winged dragon whose claws and fangs can sunder anything. Armour offers no shelter, and whatever falls within its bite is split apart. When it unleashes its dragon breath, it rends the heavens, and rain pours through the wound it leaves. Water and sky are alike to it; it moves through one as freely as the other. Some say it can even wear the shape of a man and speak with a human tongue. The traveller sharing your fire may be the dragon itself. It was forged as a weapon for a great war, and the war was won. But before the fighting ended, something within it gave way. It turned on its own kind, slaughtering the comrades who had fought beside it, drinking their blood to feed its strength. When the war was over, it was cast beyond the bounds of heaven, for no sky would ever again receive a creature that had done such a thing. No one has ever slain it, and so no one has ever eaten it; what its flesh would grant remains unknown. But the law of this charnel ground holds: whoever eats it will, in time, become the next. And the gate of heaven will close against him just the same.
一条生翼的龙。 它的爪与颚斩得断一切。甲胄挡不住，皮骨挡不住，顽石也挡不住，凡它咬合之物，无有不开。更可怖的是它的吐息：向天喷薄，竟能撕裂苍穹本身，雨水便从那道裂口里落下。它入水如入空，两处皆是它的家。更有人说，它能敛身化作人形，操人言而语。与你同围一堆火的旅人，或许早已是它。 它曾是一件兵器，用于一场大战，且赢了。可战到中途，它体内有什么崩坏了。它反噬同类，斩杀身旁并肩而战的袍泽，饮其血以自壮。战事终了，它仍被弃于荒外，没有哪一片天肯再收留一个做下这般事的东西。这便是它落在此下、再不得返上的缘由。 从没有人杀死过它，自然也没有人食过它，它的血肉予人何物，无人知晓。可这乱葬岗的规矩不变：食之者终有一日会变成下一个它。 而那扇天门，也将同样向他紧闭。
